A TaHoma® és az apple HomeKit kompatibilis egymással

Earlier this year we mentioned that the TaHoma/HomeKit compatibility turned out to be a more complicated process than we thought, for various reasons detailed in this article. Now it is available for some of our Somfy products. 

How does it work? 

Once connected to your TaHoma box, your HomeKit compatible home devices can be directly voice controlled via Siri. It is also accessible and controllable from any Apple device (iPhone, iPad, HomePod, Mac, etc.) via Apple Home app, Apple’s dedicated automation app. And of course access can also come via our TaHoma app.  

The main advantage is being able to use the Apple ecosystem to manage your equipment, with control via the app or via voice with Siri, from your car with CarPlay, etc.

TaHoma and compatible Somfy equipment

The integration of Apple's HomeKit solution into our home automation box TaHoma follows MFI certification standards (Made for iPhone, Apple's licensing programme), and therefore, is available for part of the TaHoma range meeting these criteria. For this reason, only second-generation TaHoma boxes are compatible, for those who already have one, or are planning to acquire one soon.  

On the product side, those that can be controlled with HomeKit are electric roller shutters, external venetian blinds and vertical screens as well as terrace awnings and pergolas. Such smart home devices must have the io-homecontrol radio protocol integrated to be able to communicate. 

Example of use

Now that you know (almost) everything about the HomeKit/TaHoma association, it's time to put it into practice! 

For example, when you wake up, just say "Hey Siri, open the bedroom shutters", and you are awakened by the rays of the sun slowly entering the room as the roller shutter rises. 

And if you start to get a little too hot while sunbathing on your terrace, a simple click in the Apple Home app is enough to lower the awning and you are in the shade in a few seconds, without moving.
